Depending on what type of boudoir shoot you are doing will determine what you will be bringing. Yes, there are actually quite a few different styles of boudoir photography. Most people just think of the most common, which is the boudoir shoot that involves your typical lingerie and matching bra and panties. That is how boudoir photography began and what it's main definition was because boudoir is French. There is also bridal boudoir, which is a really great gift to give your hubby to be the night before your wedding. There is also maternity, pin-up, fetish/erotic, outdoor, nude, implied nude, the list goes on and on. You can take almost any session and make it a boudoir session.
I've had clients brings a few suitcases of stuff to sessions and then I've also had clients bring a backpack with a few things. There is nothing wrong with either of them. Okay, so bringing 3 suitcases is a bit excessive. It's best to bring your favorite outfits and stick to them. It'll really help since I have different boudoir session packages that are different amounts of time. My smallest package starts at 1 hour and the largest package is 3 hours. I also offer a session called "Boudoir Party" and it is up to 5 hours. And I know that I personally want to use all the time we can wisely and not picking out what you are going to wear. If you can't decide you can always send me pictures. Don't feel weird but it's best to send me pictures with the outfits on. Seeing an outfit on a hanger vs. wearing it are 2 completely different things.
As I said earlier most people think about matching women in matching bra and panties when they hear boudoir photography. That is definitely a good thing to bring because it works and it is classic. But not every outfit you bring has to be lingerie. I will list some of the different items to give you some ideas and also other things to bring to your boudoir session. This list is not a list of EVERYTHING you HAVE to bring. These are just ideas.

A Week/Few Days Before Your Shoot
Make sure you shave a few days in advance so that redness, rashing, or bumps are not prevalent the day of your shoot. I highly recommend getting everything waxed. If you do go the waxing route do so a few days in advance. It just makes life easier and you don't have to worry about hair for at least a few weeks! ? Try everything on that you plan to wear for your shoot. Don't just throw stuff in a bag and hope it fits. It will save on your time and mine. Remove all tags from outfits that you will be wearing and pack your stuff. If you get a mani/pedi and choose to get polish, stick with a neutral color. You don't want your nails to be a bright pink and it clash with that red outfit you wanted to wear. If you HAVE to get a spray tan do it about it a week before your shoot. Don't do any drastic color! Orange skin does not look good! If you've never gotten a spray tan do a trial a month or 2 prior to your shoot. Start to lower the amount of salt you are taking in. To avoid retaining water, don't drink alcohol 48 hours prior to your shoot. Get your eyebrows waxed.
The Day Before Your Shoot
Stick with just drinking water. Stay away from alcohol and salt 24 hours before your shoot. Bathe, exfoliate, & moisturize. Touch up on any hair removal...BE CAREFUL! The Night Before Your Shoot Get a good night's sleep. Go over pictures that you like and study them. Don't worry, you don't have to have anything memorized, that is why I'm there. Relax!! The Day of Your Shoot Wear loose fitting clothes. YES, you can skip the bra! If you wear tight fitting clothes they may leave marks on your skin that will show in your pictures. Keep drinking water. Continue to avoid alcohol and salt. Eat something light before your shoot. If you are doing your own makeup stick with a natural look. You can look like you're wearing makeup, just don't overdo it. Wear clear deodorant. I hope these tips help. Of course there are tons more if you want to get very specific. This is just a quick run down of the main things. The next blog post I will be covering a checklist of what you should bring.

This group is for those who are interested in taking part in special shoots that I do or if I need an image for an advertisement for a upcoming shoot. It can be any age for the Kirsten Alana Photography part but you do have to be at least 18 to be photographed for any of the Boudoir. I will post the type of shoot and what it involves and if you are interested you can comment and see if you are a good fit for the shoot. Or if there is a fun shoot you have seen or thought up that you would like to do just let me know and more than likely I will be more than happy to make your vision a reality! The group is called Kirsten Alana Photography Model Casting but as I said it is for boudoir too, it would just be a really long name if I added all of that.
